Aviation Maintenance Certification Program

Participants in this program develop the knowledge and skills necessary for careers in both the aviation maintenance and manufacturing sectors. A myriad of professions demand this credential, including Aircraft Mechanic, Avionics Technician, Aircraft Inspector, Quality Control Inspector, and beyond. These roles represent just a fraction of the diverse career pathways accessible to aircraft mechanics within the aviation industry.
This program satisfies the requirements to be eligible to be issued a mechanic certificate and rating(s), pursuant to 14 CFR part 65, section 65.71, an applicant must:
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Meet the applicable experience requirements of 14 CFR part 65, section 65.77 (i.e., the applicant must present to the FAA either an authenticated document from a certificated aviation maintenance technician school in accordance with14 CFR part 147, section 147.21, or documentary evidence, satisfactory to the Administrator, of the prescribed amount of practical experience);
- Pass a written test, appropriate to the rating sought, in accordance with14 CFR part 65, section 65.75;
- Pass an oral test and a practical test, as appropriate to the rating sought, in accordance with14 CFR part 65, section 65.79; and
- Comply with the applicable sections of 14 CFR part 65, subpart D.

Program Details
Dates: May 20, 2024 - February 14, 2025
Duration: The program will last approximately 34-weeks plus breaks and holidays.
Schedule: Classes will be held Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Location: Kansas State University Salina
Registration deadline: May 1, 2024
Cost: Scholarships available to cover registration cost. All materials needed will be provided by K-State Salina for use during training. Meals, travel and lodging are not included in the registration fee and are the responsibility of the attendee.
