Mindfulness in Practice: Building Resilience through Awareness


Professional, personal, and client needs are addressed through mindful practice and building resiliency with awareness.  This course will provide an introduction to multiple mindfulness-based therapies.

Attendees may use this course to meet 6 hours of general continuing education units. K-State Polytechnic is a pre-approved continuing education provider approved by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board. Provider number 15-005.

Upon completion of this course, participants will:
  • Understand the importance of mindfulness, how to begin a practice and the benefits that follow
  • Learn resources, tips and exercises for personal and professional use
  • Experience multiple mindfulness exercises including breath work, guided imagery, meditation, awareness and healing exercises; ability to share with clients

Time: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Location: K-State Polytechnic in Salina, Kansas

Continuing education credits: 6 hours

A discounted registration rate is offered to current graduate and post doctoral students. About the Instructor

Suzie DeVaughn, LMSW
Self-Care Specialists


Suzie DeVaughn, LMSW, is the Founder of Self-Care Specialists and also serves as its Director of Training. She has extensive experience leading stress management and mindfulness workshops for professional caregivers.  Suzie has a private practice in which she uses mindfulness-based psychotherapy modalities including Hakomi Body-Centered Psychotherapy and EMDR.  She has maintained a personal meditation practice for over 15 years and is committed to living a healthy and mindful lifestyle.  She graduated from Wichita State with a master’s degree in social work and has Compassion Fatigue Educator and Therapy Certifications from the Green Cross Academy of Traumatology.
