More about Jessica
I graduated from Southwestern College in Winfield, KS, with my bachelor's degree in business administration. My passion is helping people. I enjoy finding ways to overcome obstacles and seeing people succeed.
I grew up in Salina and attended Salina High School South. I graduated from South in 2004.
While attending college I also balanced working full-time, so I learned a lot about priorities and managing my time to be successful in both work and school.
Favorite College Memory
I didn't have a traditional college experience, and never lived on campus. I attended Butler County Community College for a year, Cloud County Community College for a year, took a few classes from K-State Polytechnic and then completed my degree at Southwestern. My best memory was being able to balance school work and my job.
Items No College Student Should Be Without
- A planner - it was the easiest way for me to stay organized.
- Quality shoes - they make all the difference when walking across campus to your classes!
- An open mind - although not a material item, keeping an open mind and adjusting to change or ways of learning is so important during your educational journey.
Advice I Wish I'd Paid Attention To Before College
Stay focused and keep your eyes on your end goals. As a first-generation college student, my parents and I didn't know what to expect. I encourage others to reach out to your counselors and other support systems available to you, both in your educational and family systems, when you need direction and advice on how to make your goals a reality.
