UAS Multi Rotor Hobby Course
This course will cover the basics of unmanned aircraft vehicle (UAV) flight, UAS flight safety, and FAA rules and regulations for the everyday hobbyist pilot. Attendees will receive instruction and active flight training during the course. Designed for new and current UAS hobbyist pilots, attendees will learn from experts at Kansas State Polytechnic to safely pilot their UAS. All experience levels are welcome. Attendees 14 and younger must have a parent or guardian attend with them.
Upon completion of this course, attendees will be able to:
- Demonstrate proficient knowledge of UAV flight
- Adhere to FAA rules and regulations pertinent to hobby UASs
- Apply safety practices during flight of hobby UASs
Flight instruction will take place in the newly constructed UAS Flight Pavilion at Kansas State Polytechnic in Salina, Kansas. Measuring 300-feet-long by 200-feet-wide and 50-feet-tall, the structure is one of the largest enclosed unmanned flight facilities in the nation. Learn more about the UAS Flight Pavilion here.

Date: The May 21 first course will not be held. Please check back soon for a fall date.
Time: Classroom instruction will begin at 8:00 am and at 10:30 am with flight instruction to follow. Registrants will be assigned to a classroom instruction group and flight time upon registration. Total course instruction and flight time will be 3 hours.
Location: College Center and UAS Flight Pavilion, Kansas State Polytechnic campus, Salina, Kansas
Registration fee includes course instruction and materials. Attendees will bring their personal UAV to use during the course. For a limited number of attendees, a Kansas State Polytechnic aircraft may be rented for use during the course. Additional fees apply. Please indicate your interest on renting an aircraft on the registration form.

If you are traveling east or west on I-70, stay on I-70 until the I-70/I135 interchange. Travel south on I-135 to the Magnolia St. exit (No. 90). Go west on Magnolia to Centennial Rd. Turn right and proceed to the K-State Polytechnic campus.
If you are traveling north or south on I-135, take the Magnolia St. exit (No. 90). Go west on Magnolia to Centennial Rd. Turn right and proceed to the K-State Polytechnic campus.
