Strengths Based Leadership in the Workplace

Discover your natural talents and how you can leverage your and others’ strengths to enhance your workplace. Activities and discussion will cover how to best utilize your individual strengths, how to identify and maximize strengths in others, and how to develop teams based on complementary strengths. Focus will be given to helping professionals develop a strengths based community in their workplace and fostering strengths based leadership among their colleagues.

The workshop will specifically address the following objectives:

  • The most effective leaders are always investing in strengths.
  • The most effective leaders surround themselves with the right people and maximize their team.
  • The most effective leaders understand their followers’ needs.

Date: Monday, April 11, 2016   

Time: 8:00 am to noon

Location: College Center, Kansas State Polytechnic campus

Cost: $75

Registration fee includes course instruction, a copy of Strengths Based Leadership by Tom Rath and Barry Conchie, a StrengthsFinder assessment code, parking permit, and refreshments.

Participants will receive a Clifton StrengthsFinder Assessment code in advance of the workshop. Participants are asked to complete the assessment in advance of the workshop and bring a copy of their top five strengths on April 11.

The workshop will utilize the Clifton StrengthsFinder Assessment and reference Strengths Based Leadership by Tom Rath and Barry Conchie. Both the assessment and book are produced by Gallup, a research based, global performance-management consulting company.

The Clifton StrengthsFinder Assessment measures the presence of natural talent in 34 different “themes.” Workshop participants will complete the assessment to learn their own top talent themes and learn about all themes to best utilize a strengths based leadership philosophy in their work place.

If you are traveling east or west on I-70, stay on I-70 until the I-70/I135 interchange. Travel south on I-135 to the Magnolia St. exit (No. 90). Go west on Magnolia to Centennial Rd. Turn right and proceed to the K-State Polytechnic campus. 

If you are traveling north or south on I-135, take the Magnolia St. exit (No. 90). Go west on Magnolia to Centennial Rd. Turn right and proceed to the K-State Polytechnic campus.

Danielle Brown

Danielle serves as director of K-State Polytechnic Professional Education and Outreach. She is responsible for delivery and coordination of Kansas State Polytechnic's distance and face-to-face courses and programs, collaboration with local and state partners to facilitate credit and non-credit professional development program opportunities, and serves as a collaborative partner with faculty and administration with identifying and assessing the potential of inter-departmental and inter-institutional partnerships. Danielle received her bachelor's degree in Political Science from Fort Hays State University and Masters of Business Administration from Kansas Wesleyan University. She is certified as a StrengthsFinder educator by Gallup, Inc.
