Kansas State Polytechnic


Due to inclement weather and multiple school closings, the TWIST program scheduled on the Polytechnic campus today (1/5/17) has been cancelled.

Registration is closed for the 2017 program. Email profed@k-state.edu to inquire about available spots.


TWIST, Teen Women in Science and Technology, is a program developed by Kansas State Polytechnic and the Salina community. TWIST encourages high school females to consider STEM related careers. Professionals in STEM related careers such as medicine, engineering, chemistry, aviation, accounting, and many others host career sessions to provide students the opportunity to seriously explore professional career opportunities for themselves. Kansas State Polytechnic is proud to celebrate 25 years of TWIST in 2017.

TWIST is hosted on the Kansas State University Polytechnic campus in Salina, KS. Attendees should arrive to the Student Life Center for check-in. The Student Life Center is number 21 on the campus map

Directions to campus

If you are traveling east or west on I-70, stay on I-70 until the I-70/I-135 interchange. Travel south on I-135 to the Magnolia St. exit (No. 90). Go west on Magnolia to Centennial Rd. Turn right and proceed to the Kansas State Polytechnic campus. 

If you are traveling north or south on I-135, take the Magnolia St. exit (No. 90). Go west on Magnolia to Centennial Rd. Turn right and proceed to the Kansas State Polytechnic campus.

2017 Keynote Speaker

Miss Kansas 

Miss Kansas Kendall Schoenekase will serve as the 2017 TWIST Keynote speaker. Miss Schoenekase graduated in the Top 10% of her class at the University of Arkansas while completing her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in three and a half years. She was listed to the Dean's and Chancellor's Honors list for all semesters. Miss Schoenekase will continue her education to complete a Doctorate of Nurse Practitioner. She recently competed at the Miss America Pageant and was recognized as a finalist for the STEM scholarship. 

Kendall’s platform is Stay Alive - Don’t Text and Drive. She has developed a three-step action plan – Educate, Engage, Legislate: The Kansans Care Campaign. Through her social media campaign, the KCC website, events and appearances, Kendall has shared and will continue to share the statistics of how texting and driving can change so many lives in a single instant. Kendall has formed partnerships with the Kansas Highway Patrol, Kansas Insurance Commissioner and the Kansas Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Office.
