Last Lecture Series

The office of the dean at Kansas State Polytechnic is honored to host a new speaker series entitled the "Last Lecture."  This series recognizes a faculty or staff member at Kansas State Polytechnic for his or her years of service and contribution to the university. It also invites the individual to story tell their greatest teaching moments and life experiences to the Polytechnic campus and the community, as though it was the last lecture they would have the opportunity to present. Through each unique presentation, guests will learn invaluable insight that will build and unite the K-State family for years to come.
Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa. always had a Last Lecture series, but the concept became nationally known after professor Randy Pausch gave his “Last Lecture” speech on September 18, 2007. Pausch crafted his lecture about achieving your childhood dreams after learning his pancreatic cancer was terminal. His last lecture has since been viewed by millions of people and was documented in a bestselling book of the same name.
