Financial Aid Process
Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov . This allows you to apply for grants that do not need to be repaid, federal loans and work-study funding. If you apply after the priority deadline of March 1, your chances of receiving certain types of financial aid are reduced. Students and parents of students, need to obtain a personal identification number (PIN) from the U.S. Department of Education in order to apply online. Federal Pell Grant and Federal Direct Student Loan eligibility is not affected by the priority deadline. As the name implies, the FAFSA is free! There are no fees to process the FAFSA.
After you submit your FAFSA, you will be given your estimated family contribution. K-State uses this to determine your aid eligibility and prepares your financial aid package, which may include loans, grants, work-study, and/or K-State scholarships. The results of a student's FAFSA are electronically sent to Kansas State University when our Federal School Code of 001928 is included on the FAFSA.
- In April, you will receive a letter from Kansas State University listing the financial aid you can expect for the school year. Log on to your student account (KSIS ) to accept or reject each award. Your financial aid package may be delayed if you have been selected for verification.
