About Scott Nichols

Scott began his aviation career as an Army helicopter pilot in 1972 and spent the next 20 years flying utility (Huey) and cargo (Chinook) helicopters. His flying assignments took him to Texas, Alabama, Alaska, South Korea, North Carolina, Honduras, Saudi Arabia and Iraq. While in the Army, he completed a B.S. in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and added numerous airplane ratings to his pilot certificate. After retiring from the Army, he came home to Salina, Kansas, and was a Flight Instructor, Charter Pilot, and Flight Department Manager at the Salina Airport until joining the staff at the K-State Salina Aviation Department in 1999. For the next 14 years he managed and flew air transportation services for the university in the Cessna Citation business jet and Beechcraft King Air turboprop. When the transportation program was closed in 2014, he move into a faculty position in the Aviation Department. Scott is an NBAA Certified Aviation Manager and has logged over 10,000 flying hours in 52 types of aircraft.
