More about Ashley
I am a K-State fan and alumna, so I bleed purple! I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Social Sciences from the College of Arts and Sciences at Kansas State University in Manhattan. Shortly after graduation, the K-State Polytechnic Campus became my home. My passion is helping people, so I am excited to help students take the first step in reaching their dreams!
I grew up in Salina, and attended Salina High School South. I have also spent about 8 years in Manhattan, KS, so I consider it one of my hometowns as well!
As an undergraduate student, I worked with a Graduate Research Assistant in the Marriage and Family Therapy Department. While there, I entered data for the research project ‘Romantic Relationships among Young Adults in India’, as well as assisted on other projects. Outside of school, I devoted time to providing services to communities in the surrounding areas as a Registered Behavior Technician, and I provided aid for families with children that had been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Favorite College Memory
My favorite memories from college include the movie nights I had with my friends. We would stay up late, watch all of our favorite movies, talk, and order pizza. I also had some amazing times watching K-State football and basketball games, my friends and I would proudly cheer on the Wildcats! Those memories I will hold in my heart forever!
Items No College Student Should Be Without
- A great pair of headphones (a must have when walking)
- A lightweight laptop or tablet (something easy to carry around campus)
- An awesome support system (this isn't an item, but still an important thing everyone needs!)
Advice I Wish I'd Paid Attention To Before College
Have an open mind. College is a time for meeting new people and experiencing new things. Not only will you get an education, but you will also grow as a person.
GO TO CLASS!!! You are investing into your future! In class you will learn the important information that is relevant to your prospective career, but you will also learn a lot about yourself. Also, you can make great connections with other students, as well as instructors. These connections will be very helpful when it comes to your future endeavors!
